Michigan Senate Approves Fee Hike for Hunting and Fishing Licenses
Legislation to increase the cost of obtaining a permit to hunt and fish in Michigan has cleared the state Senate.
The bill, which includes proposed laws SB 276 and 277, would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, resulting in increased permit fees for various hunting and fishing licenses.
A fiscal analysis finds that the increase would generate tens of millions of dollars in revenue for the state.
The bill was approved by a 23-13 vote in the Michigan legislature and would still need to clear the Michigan state House before getting the governor's signature.
