Mayoral Candidate Curtis Sliwa Attends Middle Village Community Meeting
Curtis Sliwa, a mayoral candidate, visited St. Margaret's Parish Hall on Tuesday night to discuss the mayoral race and answer questions at the Middle Village Resident's Association (RA).
The RA, led by community leader Paul Pogozelski, provides an "extra layer of civic engagement" to discuss issues related to Queens Community Board 5 and other topics, giving candidates the opportunity to speak to constituents.
Other candidates, including District 30 City Council candidate Alicia Vaichunas, addressed the crowd, but Sliwa was the highlight of the night, drawing attention with his Guardian Angels beret.
"It's good to have representatives from different levels of the city government come here,"
said Pogozelski, noting that this shows the community is "gaining traction."
