The Lawton Food Bank is increasing its services to help those affected by the impending cut to SNAP benefits amidst the ongoing government shutdown.
According to officials, the Food Bank will double the chances for families in Lawton to receive food in November. Families can make one visit between November 3-14 and a second visit later in the month. Additionally, a "produce pop-in" will be available on a date in November.
"Both the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma have been incredible partners of the Lawton Food Bank for years, but during this time, our community has really come together with other nonprofits, businesses and individuals that have given us food."
The expansion of services is made possible by the support of partners and community members, including the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
